Tesla will have the same problem as the Prius, there are significantly less expensive alternatives whether they are electric or not….
It is great that they got a less expensive factory, but again how much is factiorty overhead going to allow them to cut sales price to be more in the main stream…..clooney can only buy so many of them….

“how much is factory overhead going to allow them to cut sales price to be more in the main stream”
From the article:
Also, unlike large-volume auto plants that receive plastic and stamped parts from outside suppliers, the Tesla factory is set up to be self-contained, with on-site metal stamping, plastic injection molding and paint shop. Instrument panels, center consoles and seats are assembled in-house, with battery packs, motors and other electronics also made at the factory.
Given that this single factory is doing everything. What else is there besides factory overhead and overall efficiency to drive the cost? If they make everything in house, all you have to worry about besides factory overhead is raw material cost. I am sure there are some expensive materials in these batteries but I would also wonder how much of the total cost is tied up in actual raw material cost?
Tesla is looking pretty well set up to me. They are learning everything they need to learn making the high end cars. If they can make a steady profit at these low volumes, in that huge factory, it is going to be pretty easy to make a car in a lower pricing bracket. If they do indeed make a profit next year, they are set to expand.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is
required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very
web smart so I’m not 100% sure. Any tips or advice
would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
